Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebratingĀ Science WeekĀ and exploring science in our everyday lives!
Over the week, students connected with scientists across a total of 21 Chats. They discussed a huge range of science topics in more than 5000 lines of conversation, plus 183 follow-up questions submitted to theĀ Ask page.
22 classes from 10 schools took part – thatās around 350 students, all the way from 1st year to 6th! Attendance awards go to Jesus & Mary Secondary School, Sacred Heart School, and Trinity Comprehensive School for attending 3 Chats each āļø
A huge well done to Harish K and Alessandra M for joining in with over half of the weekās Chats between them š
Science Weekās theme this year wasĀ regeneration. Students connected with 39 scientists across diverse specialities who shared insights into their work onĀ sustainable energy,Ā tech advancements, andĀ new health solutions. This diversity was reflected by questions and discussions in Chats.
Take a look below to see just some of the topics students were interested in:
šØļø In the Chats
We saw students engage in some really in-depth conversations. A student from Roscommon Community College was keen to learn more about Diarmuidās work. Jose gave Jesus & Mary Secondary School some great insights into the practicalities of working in STEM, and how to get there too!
Lots of students asked the scientists for advice, and it was great to see so much encouragement and positivity! Scientists shared some of their successes in and outside of their work with Tyrrelstown National School, while Trinity Comprehensive students saw how even failures can lead to success:
There were some great tips shared by scientists, and students too:

Check out the detail in Asmaās answer to that climate change question š¤Æ Special mentions go to Ahmed Z and Min Y for answering the most follow-up questions!
We hope everyone who took part enjoyed their Chats, and that theyāve given students a new perspective on how science helps us to understand their world.
