I am originally from Barcelona, Spain, but I have lived in Sweden, Belgium and France. I moved to Ireland 3 years ago to be close to my boyfriend, now fiancé.
I really enjoy spending time with friends and family, just hanging out or video calling. And I absolutely love traveling, I take every opportunity I have to do so!
In the sports side, I do enjoy dancing almost any type of dance, but especially ballet.

My Work:
I currently am a student researcher (PhD student) at University College Cork. I work in a lab and I focus on vaccines for flu in the form of oral tablets (like a pill) and patches (very small needles that can be stuck to the skin like a band aid), which are easy to administer and very cool!

Vaccines are very important to fight diseases, and the way we give them to people plays an important role on how well they can protect through the immune system and how many people can benefit from them. My job is to study and do experiments in the lab with the pills and the patches, to see if they are a good alternative to needles and syringes.
As part of my job, I get to travel to other countries to explain my work to other scientists.
Once I finish my PhD (doctoral studies) I will become a doctor (but not the kind of doctor you go to when you get sick!).
-
My Typical Day:
I wake up at 8 am and have breakfast at home (tea with milk and cereal). I arrive at work around 9am, and start to plan my work. Then I do some experiments in the lab and take a break for lunch with my work friends. After lunch I do some more experiments and then look at results. I go home at 5-6pm.
