About Me:
I live in Cork and am a PhD student in Tyndall National Institute where I research photonics, which is the study of light. I suppose my main hobbies would be soccer and video games.

My Work:
My PhD research involves theoretically analysing and designing components for photonic integrated circuits to improve their performance. These circuits use light to transfer and process information.

My Typical Day:
I do a mix of working from home and in the office. My typical day can vary depending on what I’m currently working on and what stage I’m at when working on something. In general, a typical day would involve some combination of: researching or developing methods to analyse photonic integrated circuit devices, developing code to implement analysis using those methods, analysing and interpreting results from code to improve the design of devices, reading scientific papers, meetings with people I’m collaborating with, and writing scientific papers or content that will eventually be used in my thesis.
